About my Job Interview and Panel Discussion

Job Interview

I applied for customer service position on the interview. Actually, I got many qustions that I hadn't imagined...haha.. Those are kinds of which say nagetive situations. I know I shouldn't say something really nagetivly on interview, but questions led me to say it. So I tried to turn it into being positive. Also, I tried to keep smile, like pretending that I am not embarrassed. Fortunatly, Jeff, an interviewer, said that I did well done and it was good that I had been keeping smile. Appreciated his comments.
After the interview, I realized that job interview requires much more preparation that I thought. Although I know what I can answer the questions, on interview, I could arrange what I think of it quickly. So I think I just rambled.
However, it was really good opportunity to experience job interview. Through the experience, I will prepare my real jon interview in the future.

Panel Discussion

My team topic was 'Marriage'. We discussed that whether marriage is really necessary and how people in Korea changed the thought of marriage. Only one of our team member, Jihun, said that marriage is necessary in his opinion, Actually, if I find a partner that I really really really love, I would like to get married. However, I don't think it is necessary. Just except for the case of that you could find your lover.
Nowaday, the thoughts about marriage in Korea are not really positive, due to money and condition and so on. Finding a partner to get married is determined up to the conditions of the candidates. That fact is really sad...
I think marriage has many adventages and also many disadventages. Some people think the adventages are more than the disadventages, and some people think the disadventages are more. It is just the difference of the people's view. Marriage is a choice of ourselves.

I enjoyed the discussion a lot. I could know how other poeple think of the same topic differently. It was very interesting. All opinions that we said were fresh and respectable. It was a final exam that I have really enjoyed the most. :)

Hope all of you enjoy your summer vacation and see you next semester~~

Thank you very much.

Discusstion about Marriage in Korea

Do you think marriage is necessary?
Actually, I partly agree with it, because to get married means that you have your partner who will be beside you forever (perhaps forever..).
So, I am really happy to hear my friends or people around me get married.
But I don't think it is necessary, because some people may think they don't want to.
People in Korea usually used to get married to get children in the past.
Marriage was necessary in Korea. But now no everyone in Korea gets married if they don't want to.

There are some reasons why I think marriage is not necessary.
Why do you think people get married? Because they fell in love with someone, and because they think they need to get married when they get a job and are ready to have babies. I know having a family is the way that you don't feel lonely when you get old. But some people feel still lonely after getting married. So, after all, some are divorced even if they have babies. Then, the babies usually go to an orphanage, because of their parents' irresponsibility.
Next, I would like to ask people who think marriage is necessary about 'have you thought that you are just following the way that is already settled by the society?'. Everyone may think we are going to get married when you are around 28~35 years old. What if you don't have a partner at the moment, or you don't like your boy or girl friend? Then, probably most of people choose blind date for marriage. For me, I can't decide my life partner only for the short time through the blind date that meet someone I don't know at all.

These are just my opinions. In conclusion, I don't think marriage is necessary.
I expect this Thursday when we are going to duscuss about this topic.

Thank you very much. :)

Modern family script 01 - 03 (Study Group)

Time -  00:00~03:09

Honey, I thought you were gonna take out the garbage.
Getting it.
I was gonna get it.
- Dylan.
- Hey, Mrs.
Dunphy.
- I'm just waiting for Haley.
- Did you ring the bell? I texted.
She said she'd be down in just a minute.
- Oh, great.
Tell her I said hi.
- I will.
D-Money! Chillin' with Dylan the villain.
- "D" to the "y" to the - Hey, Mr.
Dunphy.
Come on in.
You're just in time to catch the end of the game.
I'm not really a baseball guy.
- Haley says hi.
- I was just being facetious.
I'll catch you up.
Sit it.
Park it.
Come on, I don't bite.
Kidding.
I'm kidding.
Okay, see that guy? He's the tying run.
Interesting story about him.
He's been stuck on second base forever, and I'm pretty sure he's gonna try and steal third, which is justa terrible, terrible idea.
How are you and Haley doing?

I wish I could stay home with you and fly toy airplanes.
These aren't toy airplanes.
These are models, and they're very complicated.
You want to fly one of these, you got to be familiar with airfoil, drag, lift, and thrust, and these are all principles of aerodynamics.
The box says, "12 and up.
" What?! You can fly planes with Jay next time.
Today you have to spend time with Luke.
- Why? - His mother invited you, so you go.
Family needs to be close, right, Jay? I'm pretty sure this is a typo.
Men need their hobbies.
Manny's father had many hobbies, like hiking in the desert, that kind of skiing that they drop you from the - How do you say in english? The - Helicopter.
Once, on a dare, he even boxed with an alligator.
Wrestle.
You wrestle.
- You can't box with alligators.
- Are you sure? How would they get the gloves on those little claws? Aren't they like tiny, little hands? - I forgot what we were talking about.
- Anyways, hobbies are important for the men, whether you're risking your life or flying little planes from a safe distance.

Wait, what are you doing? - We're gonna buy some diapers.
It'll just take a second.
This is Costco.
Yeah, which is where we buy diapers.
Since when? Do you rember when we adopted that baby a few months back? Since then.
Mitchell is a snob.
No, I'm discerning.
Official slogan for snobs.
When we first met, he wouldn't even look at me because I was a hick from the farm in Missouri and he's a big city mouse.
Who says "city mouse"? Country mice.

I was just being facetious.
1. not meant to be taken seriously or literally
2. amusing; humorous.
3. lacking serious intent; concerned with something nonessential, amusing, or frivolous:

He's the tying run.

on a dare 감히, 용감하게!

snob
1. a person who imitates, cultivates, or slavishly admires social superiors and is condescending or overbearing to others.
2. a person who believes himself or herself an expert or connoisseur in a given field and is condescending toward or disdainful of those who hold other opinions or have different tastes regarding this field:

discerning
showing good or outstanding judgment and understanding

hick
an unsophisticated, boorish, and provincial person; rube.

city mouse

There are some expressions that I don't know and couldn't find the meaning.

Peep Show 06x05 The Party

- Hey, Mark! - Hi, Dobs.
I just happened to be passing and I remember you were saying that if I happened to be passing Two buses here, three buses home - five convenient buses.
Great to see you, you big freak! Cool place.
Wonder who's tried to jump her.
He'll have had a pop.
I'm just temping, but it's fun.
Look, I couldn't help noticing that there's a Cineworld on the high street - Oh, yeah? and I've got all these credits left on my Mega-pass, and I'm not up to much, so Shit.
I'm going out tonight for a big one with the guys.
I'm a guyl lt'd be great to do a mega gulp and movie soon, though.
I'd hate us to stop being friends.
Yeah friends.
Yeah, we're friends, right? Like, if I was having a party, I'd invite you, and if you were having a party, you'd invite me.
- Well, yeah.
- Exactly.
- Dobby - Yeah? - I'm having a party.
- What? Yeah, that's the other thing I came tell you, actually, that I'm having a party.
Would you like to come? - Um yeah.
- Trapped in a web of her own makingl Oh, God.
I can't believe I'm having a party.
I am so proud of you.
There was everyone thinking you were just this fusty, sweater-wearing, spirit-crushing, no-fly zone with a ten-foot carrot up his arse.
Yeah, obviously it is only a tactical party.
I'm only having a party in order to eventually get sex.
This is the only reason anyone in recorded history has had a party, Mark.
Plus, it's great for me - perfect way to see Elena! - You haven't given up on Elena? - Nah.
She's just playing it cool.
And I just need to do the same.
It's Snoopy in shades versus the Fonz in a fridge.
Hi, it's Elena.
Please leave a message.
Oh, hi, Elena.
Yeah, Jez here.
Just to say, you know, me and Mark are partying hard this Saturday.
I've invited everyone else and then I thought of you.
So there's going to be some cats from the music biz, a few cats from film and new media.
You know, a whole crowd of cool cats and crazy chicks.
Chicks with dicks, chicks without dicks, guys with dicks.
Maybe see you up here, maybe not.
Bye-bye.
Bye.
Bye-bye.
Bye.
Oh, great.
Oh, shit.
What is it? Creamy Elephant repayments? It's from Sophie's father.
His solicitor.
Arrangements for child maintenance, visitation Oh, God.
Wow.
That's pretty real.
I don't want to stickle or negotiate.
Wouldn't feel right.
Yeah, just sign that shit up.
That's what I'd say.
Sign and recline - that's my motto.
Yeah.
Am I really going to take his advice? The finest legal mind of his generation?

Only three hours to go.
Three lasagnes to nail.
Need another? Chicken lasagne? I've seen it on menus, but only at those pretend pubs at the airport.
Hey, man! - What the hell are you doing? - I'm gaffer-taping bin bags to the floor.
Right.
Why? To protect the carpet from all the various fluids.
But it looks like a crack den.
I know! Why the hell have you bought so much food? Because I'm making four different kinds of lasagne.
Nobody cares about the food at parties, Mark.
They just want to get pissed and go ape.
"Go ape"? I don't want people "going ape", Jeremy.
Because there's a missing word, isn't there? Ape shit.
Anyway, I haven't got time for this.
I need you to start assembling an enormous salad.
Salad?! Oh, "Did you have a good time at the party?" "Yeah, well, I got pissed and stoned "and this girl took her top off and danced on the sofa like in Trading Places, "but there was no baby leaf salad, so overall, big disappointment.
" Nobody is dancing on the Creamy Elephant.
I'll do the salad in a minute.
Right now I'm setting up puke points.
Puke points?! There are seven puke points.
The toilet is puke point HQ, obviously.
And then I've gone round emptying the bins and distributing bags as secondary puke points.
Oh, God.
This could be a disaster.
I want a night of edgy banter and tipsy indiscretions.
He wants us all lying around in our pants, flinging shit at each other.
MARK: Ugh, Sophie.
Not again.
I'm not having a baby - I'm having a partyl So what do you reckon? How many buttons? Cos, like, one is old-school, Blair on holiday.
Two is the new one.
So I was thinking maybe three, but then if I'm doing three, maybe four? I'm thinking of doing a reserve chicken.
What do you think? Five lasagnes, Mark? Lasagnes can't save you.
You are still going to have to talk to people, you know.
- (DOORBELL RINGS) - What if it's Dobby? Don't snaffle any of the mozzarella.
My ratios are right on the edge.
Gerard.

That is not the whole script, just from the first to somewhere.. haha

My way how I study English with drama

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-ZN1woiaZ52MTFJcmR3djlqdVU&authuser=0

I have studied with the drama, Gossip girl.
I watched it first without subtittle and then with subtittle in English.
I wrote down some words I don't know and studied those.
I could understand the words and memorize easier then when I just studied, because I could remind the situation when I see the words.
The more watch the video, the better. :)

Hopefully, this way is helpful to others as well as me.

Intensive Shadow Speaking Practice methods

  • Listen/Whisper
  • Listen/Repeat
  • Listen/ Shadow Read
  • Try anything else you this will be helpful
  • Listen/Record

  • I used all the methods. Listened first and then just repeated reading untill I can speak the sentence naturally. Recording helped me check how my intensive shadow speaking practice is going on.

I chosen the Ted Talk by Susan Cain - The power of introverts. It is one of quit difficult speeches to practice speaking. But I think the more difficult, the more helpful - of course, with the harder.

Through this practice, we can improve our English pronunciaion and reading skill. We can also get to feel more confortable in English conversation.

I would like to practice other speeches. :)

Study Group - some expression from America movie

This movie is 'Step Up 2'.

    M : Chase, he's a ladies' man.
    A : He's a player?
M : Like an all-star. He's only recently taken the jersey out of retirement. So be warned. Oh, and that's Cyborg Sophie. She's an MSA machine and Collins' crowning achievement. She's a triple threat. She acts, sings and dances. She won every competition out there. But she just lost the biggest battle of them all, the one for Chase's heart.
Triple threat (entertainer), a performer who excels at acting, singing, and dancing
Triple threat position (basketball), in which a player has the options of shooting, dribbling, or passing
Triple-threat man (gridiron football), a player who excels at running, passing, and kicking
    C : I was impressed.
    A : Oh, gee, thanks.
    C : You're welcome.
A : So what's your deal? Boy bands making a comeback?
C : Yeah. They have a course on it here. I'm getting straight A's.
A : That wouldn't surprise me. Look, it's been interesting bonding with you, but I'm late.
    C : Late for what?
A : Just this rehearsal thing.
    C : Rehearsal for what?
A : Rehearsal with some friends.
    C : Like a crew?
A : What would you know about that?
C : Knew it. Saw you at the Dragon. You're with Four-one-oh.
    A : I don't know what...
C : I've always wanted to compete, I've just never had an in. Can you hook me up?
bond with : to get along with
hook up : to meet or begin to work with another person or other people
C : What got into you today?
A : What? As opposed to my winning charm every other day?
C : Fair enough. Two points to the new girl. You want to talk about it?
A : I got kicked out of my crew.
    C : What for?
    A : For being here. I can't believe I messed this up.
C : They're the ones that messed up. They lost an amazing dancer.
what got into you : you look pale.
as opposed to : rather than
get kicked out of : be expelled, be thrown
A : Hey, you guys, this is my girl, Missy. She's here to, uh... help us out.
Others : Help us out? We bombed last night. Our respect went out the window.
go out (of) the window : If a quality, principle, or idea goes out of the window, it does not exist any more

Think about how to study effectively in a study group

Study Groups - The Secret to Success

They are talking about good things of study group.

    I totally agree with them.

There are many knid of ways to study. No sitting and reading a book is only to study.

Many people have different ideas and ways they study.

Study group can help us be more interested in studying. Every day, we can do several activities to study and share information each other and learn something respectable from others.

People in a study group should be enthusiastic to learn something and like people.

Then, the study group will be progressed perfectly.

    Speed dating during the class

I have done speed dating with 3 classmates.
This is what I analyzed the record, which is refined.

    1.
Partner : What is your name?
Me: My name is Bora Yang.
Partner : My name is Bin Park.
Me : Are you more of a city or country person?
Partner : I am a conutry person more than city person, because I love nature and quiet place. Country has no a lot of machine things, so I become more diligent person.
Me : But it is not convenient.
    Partner : Yeah, I know.
    Me : Never mind?
Partner : Yes. How about you?
Me : I think I am more of city person, because city has a lot of convenient buildings and I can go wherever I want through transportations.. like a bus or a car.. Because I am lazy.
Partner : What makes you happy?
Me : Umm.... I think What makes me happy is like simple things. For example, today I didn't eat breakfast, so today I have an orange juice instead. So, I am happy. So simple. What about you?
Partner : Sharing time with my friends. That makes me happy. I like to drink with my friends.
Me : Oh.. Do you like drink?
Partner : Not really, but a little. About twice a week?
Me : Oh, it is normal.
Partner : What are you doing in your free time?
Me : Nowaday, usually I try to write my resume, and do assingments from school. But before that, one or two years ago, I usually chatted on Kakaotalk with my friends, or watched Facebook, or watched movies. And you?
Partner : I live with my grandparents, so when I have free time, I cook myself and eat together, or watch a TV show, 비정상회담.
Me : Do you like cooking?
    Partner : Yes.
Me : What can you cook the best?
Partner : Rose Pasta. With tomato source and beef and milk and rose...

    2.
Partner : Hi, What is your name?
Me : My name is Bora Yang.
Partner : My name is You, Hyoen Jung. Nice to meet you.
    Me : Me too.
Partner : Are you more of city or country person?
Me : I am more of city person.
    Partner : Why?
Me : Because a city has lots of convenience. I am lazy, so I don't want to move a lot. And I can go anywhere I want. What about you?
Partner : I think I am a country person, because.. I live in Young-do. You know?
    Me : Young-do?
Partner : Yeah. It is an island. I like that it is not really crowded with people. And I really like my town. So, I think I am a country person. What colour best describes your personality?
    Me : I think green.
    Partner : Green? Why?
Me : Because the colour makes people more confortable. So... I think so. And you? Today you are wearing a green jacket.
Partner : Yeah. But I like pink or orange.
Me : It descirbes your personality?
Partner : I think yellow. I don't know why. I think yellow describes my personality.
Me : I like yellow character. Something yellow. Like SpongeBob or Pooh.
Partner : Those are yellow, yeah. Do you have a boyfriend?
    Me : Now? No.
Partner : Why did you break up with your last boyfriend? Can I ask you? Or is it private?
Me : It was private, but it is not now, because it was long time ago. So, it is not private anymore. My x-boyfriend actually said he needs to go to England, because he was a student in the university in England. He needed to finish England's college first and then come back BUFS again. He said that to me and he went there. But in summer vacation, suddenly my friend who was a friend of my ex said, you know what? He went to militery service.
    Partner : Did he lie?
Me : It was not lie. He went to England and then went to militery service. But he didn't tell me.
    Partner : Really?
    Me : Yes.
Partner : So, how did you...?
Me : Just finished. Because it takes two years. And we had no way to contact each other, but sometimes he contacted me on Facebook, but I ignored it.
Partner : Is he in militery now?
Me : No. He already came back school.
Partner : So, you sometime meet him?
Me : No, because he is not in our department.
    Partner : Oh, okay.
Me : Do you want to have children?
Partner : Yes, I want 1 son and 1 daughter. Or if I have a lot of money, I would want to have 2 sons and 1 youngest daughter. I hope 3 children.. if I have a lot if money.
Me : Nice to see you.

    3.
    Partner : Hi.
Me : Hi, I know your name.
Partner : Okay.. I know your name too. So.. I wanna ask you some questions. Can you tell me what are your dream jobs?
Me : Dream jobs? Actually, I have many kind of dream jobs, because I need to have.. like plan B.
    Partner : Oh, plan B!
Me : So, I want to work in the service industry. I am thinking about.. like hotel or airline or cruise. What about you?
Partner : My dream job is to be a very successful businessman.
    Me : What kind of?
Partner : My dream is like selling alcohol things like beers.
    Me : A bar?
Partner : No, not that kind of the bar. More huge and selling like all kind of beers in the world.
Me : You mean trade company?
Partner : Yes. It is my dream now. So, it could be changed. What is your favorite film?
Me : Do you know 'Hide and Seek'?
Partner : Is that Korean movie?
Me : Yes. It was 2 years ago. It is a thriller.
Partner : Ah, I think I know that.
Me : I don't remember the name of the actors.
Partner : Do you enjoy watching scare movies?
    Me : Yes, I like.
    Partner : Oh, strong heart.
Me : No, but I can't see horror movies, but I can see a thriller.
Partner : Okay. you got strong heart.
Me : Are you a night owl or early bird?
Partner : At this moment, I am actually an early bird. Before that, I used to be a night owl in the past, because I was working at a pub that closes at noon. So, I had become a night owl. How about you? Night owl?
Me : Yeah. Because I don't care about tomorrow morning. I concentrate on now.
    Partner : Oh.

Can men and women be just friends?

Today, we had discussion about 'can men and women be just friends?'. All of our group members, which consist of 4 men and a woman, said 'Yes'. Everyone has male or female friends. If you feel some attraction or interests to them, you should answer 'no', in my opinion.
I found very very interesting video about this topic. A guy is interviewing to people about it. Most of women said 'yes', however most of men said 'no'. And, when the interviewer ask one more question 'Do you think your male friend has interested in you?', most of them answered 'yes..' According to this video, I guess everyone might think men and women cannot be friends partly. And... also I agree with it... partly.. lol

When I was in Vancouver, I used to live in the homestay which the owners are from Philippines. I have met many international friends who were studying English like me. We had a party almost every weekends, because there was a karaoke mechine in the house and everyone lived there loves a party!! The party in the picture was to celebrate Andrea's birthday. Andrea is one of my homemates, from Ecuador. You might guess she is in the center of the picture, who is wearing a blue and black dress.

These two pictures were taken when I said good-bye to Andrea. She was one of my best friends in Vancouver. Even though I stayed in the homestay just for 3months, we still kept in touch after I moved out. We have hung out together and been crazy. The fact that need to say good-bye always makes me sad. The other girls in the pictures are Koreans and they were also who lived in the homestay together.

While I stayed in Vancouver, I have traveled to several places. The pictures were when I traveled in LA. I and my friends in the pictures are in toon town where Mickey mouse lives in Disney land. You can see we were madly excited. If I have a chance to go to LA, I would like to go there again!

They are my best friends who I met in Vancouver! The girl who wears a white cap is a Japanese, Chika. She visited to Seoul to meet her Korean friends. So I went to Seoul to meet Chika and my friends who live there. As you see, she likes shopping. It is one of the purpose she came to Korea. Chika and I were always together while I was in Vancouver. I miss her a lot. I am planning to go to Tokyo to meet Chika!

I have more pictures that I like! If I have a chance or time, I would love to show you! :)

Ellen Goes Holiday Shopping at Target

    * Short description

Ellentube is my favorite america show program.

She had an funny event to enjoy her particular shopping.

She went to pick up a few things for the holidays, and had some fun with Target shoppers!

She asked people who were in the market to bring some items that she needs.

She gave rewards to whoever brought the items for her.

    * Why I find it ineresting

I am interested in shopping and Ellentube as well.

I am impressed to her uncommon shopping style!

And I like the cooperated americans that helped Ellen out to shop.

    * Language learning point

Ellen says quite fast. So we need to pay attention to what she is saying.

I believe everyone likes this video once you watch it.

So, we can be more involved in it.

And Ellen says a joke/a pun. I do not sometimes understand because it is English.

But I think understanding English joke is helpful to improve English skill.

    * Related resources

I have found one more video about shopphing that I like the most!

Its tittle is 'Black Friday Madness'.

The biggest sale of the year is fast approaching, and Ellen discussed some of the insanity with her audience

Do you have your particular shopping skills that make you have the most enjoyable shoppging?
